Cardiff North WASPI Campaign Evening - 23rd Feb 2018

January 12, 2018

Are you a woman born in the 1950s? The Government may have changed your state pension without you knowing.

Invitation to join Cardiff North ‘Equality of Pension Provision for Women’ Meeting

As you may be aware in 2011, the Coalition Government made the decision to accelerate the rise in the women’s state pension age, and this has had a devastating effect on women across the UK and Cardiff North constituency, as well as their partners and families.

As a result of the 2011 Pension Act, over 2.5 million women have had their state pension age changed without fair notification. I strongly believe that these women deserve both recognition for the injustice that they have suffered, and some kind of compensation for their losses, which is what I have been campaigning for in Parliament.

Locally, I have been keen to raise awareness and help establish a group where women can come together to compare experiences, share advice and campaign for fairer treatment for women born in the 1950s.

Therefore, I am pleased to invite you to join me at the Cardiff North 1950s Women’s Pension Inequality meeting on Friday 23rd February from 7pm at Whitchurch Rugby Football & Social Club, Samuels Crescent, Cardiff CF14 2TH. My colleague, Carolyn Harris MP – co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women – has also kindly agreed to attend, as has our Assembly Member Julie Morgan.

I will be setting up a Facebook event page and posting updates at or please call my office on 02920 624440 for more information.

I hope you will be able to attend and look forward to meeting you.
